Llanrwst councillor's campaign for car park resurfacing APPROVED by Conwy council
Conwy Council has approved plans to resurface Watling Street car park in Llanrwst.
Conwy Council officers submitted a business case to the Council last week asking Councillors to back the spend as the car park was in "major need of resurfacing."
Councillor Aaron Wynne of Llanrwst, who has long campaigned to get Watling Street car park resurfaced, welcomed the report claiming the people of Llanrwst "have waited a long time to get a decent car park in the town."
Mr Wynne said:
"I welcome this report. The people of Llanrwst have waited a long time for this resolution and to get a half-decent car park in the town.
"Local people in Llanrwst and the Conwy Valley - as well as tourists - use the car parks to stop and spend in the town. Ensuring our car parks are useable and accessible are vital for the town's recovery post-covid.
"The car park needs to be fully resurfaced and not fixed on the cheap. After many years of campaigning I'm glad the Council now agrees with the people of Llanrwst and me that it needs to be done."
"I hope the Council will now announce their timetable to get the work done."
The business case supported by Councillors last week which means the work should be completed by the end of the next financial year 2022/2023.
